I Signed Up to a Non-UKAS Agency – What Do I Do?
Posted
You’ve discovered your certificate isn’t UKAS-accredited. Maybe a client flagged it, or a tender rejected it. What now?
Why Does This Happen?
Non-UKAS providers often market “quick and cheap” ISO solutions. These certificates look official but lack recognition in the UK and internationally. In most instances, it will be rejected by professional buying departments, PQQ and tender applications.
Your Options
- Confirm the status
- Check if your certification body is listed on the UKAS website.
- Assess the impact
- Will your clients or tenders accept non-UKAS certification? If not, you may need to act quickly.
- Communicate with stakeholders
- Explain the situation honestly and outline your plan to achieve UKAS certification.
- Plan for re-certification
- Moving to a UKAS approved certification will almost certainly mean re-developing your documentation and a full and robust stage 1 & 2 audit from the UKAS accredited certification body.
It may be some documentation can be reused, but additional work and documentation would normally be expected.
