ISO Mistake #1

Attempting to squeeze your business into the clauses of an ISO standard

First, understand the logic and sequence of your core income streams or delivery activities and then marry the relevant ISO clauses to those activities.

All ISOs are simply minimum frameworks which encourage you to think about how you manage your business. The detail of exactly how you manage your business is entirely up to you, and I suspect (or at least hope) that most of us want to do the best for our business, so, business first, standard second. Let’s adopt that mindset from the outset!

Solution

Adopt the Get Work, Do Work, Bill Work approach.

Your people will not understand your system if you do not write it in a way that reflects the way you think and talk about your business activities. As we like to say, “It’s your damn business, it’s your damn rules!”
